Damai Beach Resort Kuching, which is regarded as one of the Kuching hotels, albeit some distance from Kuching (45 mins drive from the airport), has three restaurants – including one specializing in local seafoods which comes at highly affordable prices and is located right beside the beach.
The other two (one on the hillside overlooking the bay) do a wide variety of foods, which include Asian and European style.

I found the food to be fresh and enjoyable, with a wide enough range to please most tastes, including my own which is vegetarian.

Other than the Kuching hotels resort restaurants there are a number of other restaurants in the local vicinity, most of which are local seafood-based. Prices are incredibly cheap while the restaurants in general are pretty basic, but if you like seafood you will adore this food as its all locally caught and freshly prepared.

The waiter/waitress service I found to be interesting – communication would probably have been a problem at a number of times if it were not for my girlfriend and her children being with me as I do not speak Mandarin or Malay. But over all the service was enthusiastic.

So, for Kuching hotels – Damai Beach resort restaurants I would give a 4 out of 5 for the choice on offer, quality of food and service and price, and for the other restaurants in the vicinity if you like/love seafood and do not mind eating basic, then 5 out of 5 without doubt!
